VOTE

APRIL 22nd

TUESDAY,

Proven Leadership

Fiscal Responsibility

Why I’m Running.

I have a proven record as a trusted financial steward of your tax dollars, and the most municipal finance experience and dedicated public service to Wakefield of anyone in this race.

Wakefield stands at a crossroads.  Rising tax burdens and grim state aid are causing many taxpayers to question whether they can afford to keep living here.

At the same time, we face the largest expenditure in Wakefield’s history — $208 Million for our new high school and major leadership transitions, with departures of our longtime Town Treasurer, Town Administrator, and Town Accountant.

This is a time for experienced, steady-handed, and trusted leadership during a period of considerable change.

For 11 years, I’ve earned your trust as a responsible steward of your tax dollars, ensuring Wakefield’s financial stability while planning for the future. Under my leadership, our town has maintained a AAA bond rating — the highest possible — saving taxpayers millions of dollars in interest costs.

You can count on me to make sound, strategic decisions carefully managing our town’s finances and continuing to safeguard your tax dollars and Wakefield’s financial future. I’m committed to managing the high school project financing to a successful completion and ensuring a smooth leadership transition.

I have consistently focused on the future through long-term planning, forecasting to prepare for whatever may come next, and balancing fiscal responsibility with the immediate needs of our community. I’m ready to continue that work with a strategic vision to move us forward.

I am the only candidate with the proven depth of experience in municipal finance needed to navigate the challenges ahead.  I’ve earned a reputation as a trusted leader who gets things done

Now is the time to secure Wakefield’s future. I’m asking for your vote on Tuesday, April 22nd so that, together, we can keep Wakefield strong, thriving, and well-managed for years to come.

Experience Matters.

After serving on the Finance Committee (2014-17), Ed was first elected in 2017 to the then-Board of Selectmen and is now in his third term on the Town Council, serving as both Chair (2019-2020) and Vice Chair (2024-present).

The role of Town Treasurer offers Ed the opportunity he’s long hoped for — to continue serving the town he loves while putting his 11 years of municipal financial planning and oversight experience to work. Through his service on the Town Council and Finance Committee, Ed has helped guide the last 11 fiscal years of Wakefield’s budgets while developing a deep understanding of what works — and what doesn’t — in Wakefield’s financial management.

As a Town Councilor, Ed has distinguished himself as a trusted watchdog for your taxpayer dollars — scrutinizing spending, asking direct, pointed questions, and consistently advocating for sustainable, responsible, and long-term budgeting practices. He’ll bring this much needed know-how to the role of Town Treasurer.

As Chair of the Public Safety Building Reassessment Committee, Ed led the way toward a $10M+ renovation and expansion of the facility — a project that was completed on time, on budget, and without raising taxes. Thanks to careful planning, it was fully funded within the existing Debt Service Fund, avoiding a Proposition 2½ override.

Ed has been the driving force behind the Envision Wakefield Downtown Revitalization initiative for several years. In Phase 1, Ed secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in state funding to complete the Albion Street corridor improvements — a project he oversaw through to successful completion. For the upcoming Phase 2, Ed worked hard to secure millions in additional state funding for transformational streetscape improvements around Wakefield Center and along Main Street, set to begin in the next couple of fiscal years.

In this pivotal time of change for Wakefield, we need experienced, steady-handed, and trusted leadership managing our town’s finances. Ed brings the expertise we need, and the commitment we deserve, starting on Day 1.

About Ed.

Ed is an attorney and the owner and Managing Partner of the family law firm Travers | Dombroski in Boston. As a longtime successful business owner, he brings the experience needed to manage Wakefield’s assets, accounts, and debt — all while preserving our town’s stellar AAA bond rating and saving taxpayers millions of dollars.

Ed was recently re-elected unanimously to continue serving as Treasurer of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation — a testament to the trust and respect he’s earned. Under his financial leadership, the Foundation has seen unprecedented growth. He also serves on the MBF Finance Committee and is a longtime Trustee and Fellow.

He is a strong supporter of our Veterans and passionate advocate committed to ending domestic violence.

Ed is a cum laude graduate of Union College and Boston University School of Law. In his free time, Ed is an avid marathon runner, snowboarder, and sprint triathlete.
